graemewa asked: RE: Identifying "Good Denim"

I have a pair of Denim Design Lab raw selvedge denim. The company that wrote the book on denim, uses White Oak Cone Denim from America, and is based in California. Guess where there jeans are made... That's right, China! So much for trying to buy domestic jeans. I felt a bit ripped off, but they're still quality. I'd just suggest...

Identifying "Good Denim"
I love your blog and really enjoyed your post on raw selvage denim. I would love for you to do a post on identifying “good denim”, $30 vs $300 jeans, and perhaps educating us on proper way to break in/care for your brand new pair. Keep up the good work! Thanks, Andrey Hey Audrey, Thanks so much for the support and taking the time to write. You must’ve been sifting through the...

thesilentist asked: Just to chime in on the whole "cheap suit" deal. I'd second the Tommy slim-fit lines at Macy's and the Lands' End tailored fit suits. Regardless of which one you get though, I'd definitely set aside $100-140 for alterations, depending if you want the pants tapered/hemmed and need sleeve cuffs adjusted.

FWIW, LE has a sale that ends today where you can...

thisfits asked: Regarding suits: I second CB's recommendation of the Tommy Hilfiger Trim Fit at Macy's, which I tried on over the holidays. In fact, that would be my first choice, as most of the other options can't be tried on in stores (the J. Crew's in my area don't carry suits).

The Tommy suits are worth trying on--even if the asker doesn't ultimately buy one--in...

Anonymous asked: I too picked up a pair of the Lands End year rounder tailored fit suits, also in dark grey and navy when they were on sale, around $180 each. After taking them to a serious tailor and dropping some more cash on alterations, they look really good. The only downside is the low arm holes, but what are you going to do for $250 a suit, amiright?

Anonymous asked: I wanted to chime in on your reader's question about buying a suit for cheap. I recently started a job that requires me to wear a suit every weekday. I only owned one suit at the time and so needed to expand my wardrobe quickly—as well as on the cheap, since I didn't have a lot of cash saved up.

The first place I'd point the reader is to Lands' Ends Year...

sam-something-deactivated201111 asked: I'm a freshman in college beginning my own sartorial journey, and I need to buy a new suit, as none of the suits I own currently actually fit me (I'm a 36R and my suits are 38R or 40R). I'm a bit strapped for cash, so I was wondering if you had any advice on where to purchase a decent quality suit for less than $300. My parents are ideally thinking less than $200 (they're...
